This book is the collection of meditations preached in a spiritual retreat by then Cardinal Ratzinger, on the three theological virtues. Starting from an existential perspective, the author aims to change the fundamental attitudes of human existence, opening up to God, aiming for a deeper and more human existence. Particularly striking is the meditation on hope, opposing mere human optimism (the myth of eternal progress) with hope based on God.
