These are meditations that show how, before God, one can bring all praise, all passion, all anger… It is a short work in length, yet very rich for learning how to speak with God using the Psalms, which contain great wisdom.

The psalms included in this text are very diverse, united by the fact that they spring from a believing heart and present before God the events of life. They are the substance of the Church’s prayer in the liturgy.

Guardini helps us see that their true importance lies in the fact that they are the Word of God—revelation that leads to salvation. Among other things, he explores the darkness within the human heart, the longing for God, the pastoral care He gives us, the search for refuge in Him, and the world’s praise of its Creator.

A very beautiful book, perfect for mental prayer.
