The story began as a radio drama and then turned to the stage. The scene is set in a small Welsh seaside town called Llareggub and follows the ordinary lives of its inhabitants. We meet the dressmaker Myfanwy Price as she falls in love with the draper Mog Edwards. We also meet the butcher, the local vicar and the sea captain. Dylan Thomas was born in 1914 in Swansea and died in 1953 in the USA, probably as a result of his wild lifestyle and heavy drinking. He did not speak Welsh and lost himself in the drinking clubs of London. He was flamboyant and extrovert but decided to return to Wales and be a romantic poet. He was well known on the radio and liked to intersperse his works with songs and ballads.
