Biographical novel about St. Joseph. The book is a small masterpiece of its kind, describing the thoughts, feelings, and life of the Holy Patriarch. The author here undertakes the formidable task of reconstructing not only the life of St. Joseph, but also the environment in which he lived: the joys and difficulties of his ordinary life; the tense atmosphere in which everyone was waiting for the coming of the Messiah; the political maneuverings at Herod's court. It bases the book on the Bible, in addition to large literary material of his time.

The book was expressly praised by Card. Wiszynski, for showing so well the life of the Protector of Jesus and his Immaculate Mother, making them human, intelligible, and loving. Some virtues are specially underlined in the book: his purity, simplicity, piety, joy.
