The reader will find in this book an interview in which, after a section of autobiographical character, the author describes Catholic life and the signs of the trials before the end times since the 1960s, which he applies to the world, to the Christian faith, to the Church, and to its members. At the end, he offers, in his view, the reforms to be adopted in future pontificates, with the aim of overcoming the obscuring of faith and morals.

The author presents himself as a fervent defender of the solemnity of Eucharistic worship, as well as of morality and the exclusive truth of Christianity. He is very critical of interreligious dialogue initiatives, due to the danger of relativism, and also of the influence of secularism and the corruption of the clergy, while at the same time expressing his compassion for offenders. On the level of speculative theology, his criticisms sometimes lack foundation; they arise from a narrow understanding of faith and the magisterium; he has difficulty grasping the homogeneous development of dogma. In general, he is very categorical in denouncing errors, without distinguishing between a categorical declaration of principles and a practical option that may or may not be opportune.

In general, the book, which stands out for its expressions of faith and piety, does not contain doctrinal errors. What proves problematic is the critical attitude toward serious deviations and ambiguous texts. He claims to respect the supreme ministry of the Pope, but seems seriously imprudent, despite his apologetic intention, in presenting to the public explicit and grave criticisms of Pope Francis and his predecessors. His disagreement could have been expressed in a more collegial and nuanced manner. Without breaking communion with the Bishop of Rome, he places himself as his relentless judge, in a grave failure to show the respect due to his office.
