It is an autobiographical work in which the author narrates episodes from his childhood and adolescence; from his earliest memories, his family, and school experiences, to the moments when he begins to look outward toward his adult life. He prefers to call it Memories.

It is full of anecdotes: some tender, others painful, and others full of mischief and humor. He describes everyday life: his relationship with his siblings, the rigidity of the British school system in the twenties and thirties, his holiday trips, the death of his loved ones, and school punishments…

The style strikes a balance between fun and affection; he speaks honestly about difficult moments, losses, fears, and social awkwardness, but also celebrates imagination, curiosity, and discovery. This combination adds depth to the narrative and allows readers of many ages to connect with it.

It is clear, direct, and without excess; his descriptions are concise yet create thoughtful and memorable images. His narrative has a beautiful simplicity.

The values it conveys are strength, humility, empathy, and the special role of family and roots.
