This is the second novel featuring the detective Harry Bosch. The plot centers on the suicide of a detective of the Anti Drug squad in Los Angeles and the investigation that follows, which takes the main character to Mexico. References to the sordid aspects of criminal life in Los Angeles abound, but without too much detail.
