A young Scotsman sees how his beloved horse is sent to battle, during the I World War. Then he enlist himself as a soldier to go and look for the animal. The story is told by the horse itself, which focuses more on its relationship with humans than on the horrors of war. The book is not a great story, but it's well written. It was adapted for cinema in 2007.

A narrativa é contada pelo próprio cavalo, que se centra mais no seu relacionamento com os humanos do que nos horrores da guerra. O livro não é nada de especial, mas foi adaptado para cinema em 2007.
