This book contains some of the most known short stories from this author: 'The Pit and the Pendulum', 'The Murders in the Rue Morgue', 'The Purloined Letter' and 'The Fall of the House of Usher'. Edgar Allan Poe was born in 1809 and died in 1849. He was an American orphan, entered the US army and ended up as a journalist. He died of heart failure from his addictions (he was alcoholic). These macabre tales also have strong pathological content.
