Quadriplegic criminalist Lincoln Rhyme, now retired from the police force following his last case, gets involved in a civil action suite following a bizarre accident when an escalator malfunctions and kills a man in a Brooklyn store as detective Amelia Sacks is trying to catch a murderer in the same store. This is the 12th book in the Lincoln Rhyme series and brings together a host of familiar characters, side stories and unexpected plot twists. Entertaining reading but marred by some brief but unpleasantly graphic sensual descriptions.
