As an acolyte in the Sith academy, studying the secrets and skills of the dark side, Dessel embraces his new identity: Bane. But the true test is yet to come. In order to gain acceptance into the Brotherhood of Darkness, he must defy the most sacred traditions and reject all he has been taught. It is a trial by fire in which he must surrender fully to the dark side-and forge from the ashes a new era of absolute power.»
A very well-written, high-quality book. The story is captivating and fascinating. However, it deals exclusively with the Sith (the villains of Star Wars, the sworn enemies of the Jedi), who are evil incarnate.
It focuses on the character of Darth Bane, who lived a thousand years before the Battle of Yavin (that is, "Episode IV: Star Wars: A New Hope"). He was the founder of the Rule of Two: "There should only be two, no more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it." This rule establishes that there should only be two Sith at a time, a master and an apprentice, instead of many Sith at once, all with the goal of one day destroying the Jedi and the Republic.
For obvious reasons, none of the characters are exemplary. Evil permeates everything.
Is it recommended? Only for Star Wars fans. With a solid foundation and common sense. Knowing that it doesn't promote Christian values.
It's full of graphic violence, scheming, and betrayal. The characters are solely focused on gaining more power and control over each other.
It's definitely a book for adults.
