In this story James Bond is not the main character, as other books from this author. The 007 agent is the catalyst for a wartime story told in flashback by retired Major Dexter Smythe, spending his last years in Jamaica. In this short and engaging novel there is very little of the classic James Bond novels: no seductive women or super villains and no sophisticated gadgets.
