The author has a degree in Law and Human Relations, and has already published another book, Wickwythe Hall. Regarding this novelized biography of the famous haute couture designers, it can be summarized that it scrupulously respects the essentials, even though it deals with aspects that Gabrielle Chanel tried to silence when she was alive: for example, the humility of her origins. Gabrielle is known above all by the nickname Coco. Her younger sister, Antoinette, used the name Ninette. The Parisian atmosphere during World War I (1914-1918) is well reflected, and the spirit of initiative and industriousness of the sisters is a very positive element of the story. However, the narrative offers a wide panorama of immoral customs, to which the author has no reservations, although she does not dwell on the details: pseudo-marital relations, orgies, adultery, homosexuality, anti-clerical remarks, etc.
