Novela realista ambientada en una granja de Montana a principios del siglo XX. Aborda temas interesantes en un tono muy positivo, y literariamente alcanza un nivel notable. La trama es sencilla -se centra en las anécdotas de la familia- pero está bien hilvanada y los diálogos son creíbles.
