Ensayo sobre los rasgos característicos de la cultura y la vida en el siglo XV, en Francia, Borgoña y Flandes. Huzinga presenta el “otoño” de la edad media como el ápice de la cosmovisión medieval –concepción del mundo como algo estable, gusto por lo representativo, ceremonioso y dramático, tradición y jerarquía, exaltación de la mujer, el amor y el honor caballeresco, etc.–, y lo contrasta con otras concepciones. La religión aparece bien contextualizada.
