The author describes his personal memories in the early months of 1945, when he accompanied Alvaro del Portillo on his first stay in Rome, and later St. Josemaría on the unique transoceanic journey that first brought him to Rome. He tells us many details about the life of the first Croatian member of Opus Dei, Vladimiro Vince. The testimony of St. Josemaría's strength and Alvaro del Portillo's fidelity in those stages of Opus Dei's history is impressive.
