The traveling salesman, Gregor Samsa, wakes up to find himself transformed into a giant insect-life creature. It is the story of his attempts to come to terms with this new condition, and how his family deal with the creature that repels them in horror.

Franz Kafka was born in 1883 in Prague, a German Jew. He died in 1924. He had a very complex relationship with his father. The novella is an exploration of the threatened individual and the feeling of guilt.
