Gary Chapman is a pastor from the USA who has written several books on self development. In this work the author talks of 7 virtues people can cultivate to improve interpersonal relations: kindness, patience, forgiveness, courtesy, humility, generosity and honesty. The aim of the author is to convince that love given and, received from others, is the most important thing. A fulfilled life can only be achieved by practicing these virtues.

He brings anecdotes and stories about these qualities and very well known quotes. Each chapter has a questionnaire and exercises to gradually integrate in one’s life these virtues. The author ends the book with practical pieces of advice about married life, the education of children and professional life. “Love as a way of life” is a useful book for the formation of young people and adults. One of the anecdotes about forgiveness is a bit over the top and can shock sensitive people. It is a good book for everyone as it makes them reflect about a virtuous life.
