The book covers the last days of life of some inhabitants of the city of Pompeii, situated at the foot of Vesuvius, before the famous eruption of the volcano that completely covered it at the end of the 1st century. They are Glauco (Greek), Arbaces (Egyptian), Ione (Roman) and Olinto (Christian), each of which represents one of the main cultures of the city.
