The book has two parts that are very different. In the first part, the author puts in the mouth of Mary the evangelical narration of the principal events of her life. He does this with the intention of making the reader understand how these events had an interior impact on the Virgin, making one see these events from Mary’s soul. This objective is pursued delicately, showing how the Virgin was preparing herself to respond to these events, trying to understand their meaning: the reactions of the Virgin are connected in a natural way to the passages of the Old Testament, even if perhaps with too much frequency, and in any case, without any critical claim.
