With his talent for intrigue, Collins presents the troubled relationship among the members of a North American farming family, seen through the eyes of an English relative who comes to spend a few days with them. Apparently, it was inspired by a real event that took place in Great Britain: hatred, revenge, murder?, trial, acquittal or conviction...? — all with a romantic subplot. A good read for the summer.
