A well researched book on how to bring up girls in the modern world where they are faced with so many challenges and pressure from different sources: premarital sex, internet, obsession about personal appearance, etc. It gives ideas on how to help them to be more confident and independent, to value who they are not how they look or their external achievements, to monitor their involvement in social net working sites, to choose sports that are suitable for them, to facilitate their social integration. The book highlights the importance of single sex schools where research shows that girls are able to realize their full potential as compared to those in coeducation set ups. It is certainly a real eye opener for any modern parent who has young children especially teenagers and a useful tool in carrying out their task of education in collaboration with the school. On one or two occasions, it is rather explicit in putting a point across though, in general, the author writes with refinement.
