A historical novel set in Ancient Rome during the time of the Emperor Dioclesian, which describes the life of the first Christians and the persecutions to which they were subjected. The characters, both real and imaginary, realistically embody the atmosphere and the situations narrated. Fabiola, the protagonist, is a young Roman noblewoman, rich and pampered, who converts to Christianity.
