An update of a previous work of the author (A Synthesis of Christian Archeology). The book has eleven chapters, well-documented, with maps of the archeological places and of the Roman catacombs, and with drawings of architectural and iconographic elements. The book does not deal in a detailed way with written sources, nor with epigraphs. It offers, above all, an architectural analysis of archeological sources. In this respect, the plans and illustrations are excellent and made with appropriate comments. In short, a clear, simple textbook which offers a view of the whole and introduces sound questions which can, in their turn, be complemented by other previously cited publications. SL – J.V. (2007)
