This excellent novel is the fifth in the King and Maxwell series, which consists of six books. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are called in to help Edgar Roy, a suspected serial killer awaiting trial. Roy is facing an almost certain conviction. His lawyer—Sean’s friend and mentor, Ted Bergin—is scheduled to meet with them to collaborate on the case. They find him murdered on a highway.

They uncover a secret government program that uses analysts. Roy was the lead analyst in that program. Sean and Michelle receive help from Roy’s half-sister, a former spy. The trio uncovers a conspiracy. Will they uncover the truth about Roy?

This is the most chilling case in the saga. It moves at a breakneck pace, grabs you from the start, and is interesting and fast-paced, with plot twists, plenty of suspense, and a straightforward narrative. It's engaging and keeps its mysteries until the very end.
