After Kurt Wallander has killed a man in the line of duty his life spirals into alcohol fuelled depression. He has just decided to leave the police force when a friend approaches him to find the killer of his father. Kurt is reluctant to get involved, but shortly after his friend is murdered in his office. While he is on the trail of the murderer someone is on his trail. The baron businessman Harderberg has many irons in the fire, most of them illegal, but his records show he is a generous supporter of charities and good causes. At the same time his financial affairs are impossible to penetrate. Kurt’s friend’s father was his solicitor.This Wallander mystery is an enjoyable read.
