Taking as his starting point the New Testament, the author meditates on the events in the life of Jesus, from his Resurrection, through the apparitions of Jesus to the apostles, his Ascension, up to the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. From these facts of the life of the Lord and from his words he draws consequences for the Christians of today: the apostolic mission, the role of the Church, the primacy of Peter. He also rejects some rationalist doubts of people who wanted to find contradictions in the Gospel.
