The teacher

The Teacher, by Freida McFadden, is an intense and addictive psychological thriller that constantly plays with the reader’s sense of distrust. The story takes place in a high school marked by the scandal of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a teenage student, while secrets, manipulations, and lies gradually come to light.
As in other works by the author, the plot relies on morally ambiguous characters and on the idea that no one is completely innocent. In this case, it contains inconsistencies that do not quite fit within the overall narrative, as if it had been written very quickly.
It very accurately portrays the atmosphere of a high school, the relationships between students, bullying among girls, teenage friendship, and above all, the influence that teachers have over students.
It is important to note that the book deals with very sensitive topics. The novel includes situations of sexual abuse and manipulation of minors by teachers, as well as psychological violence and marital infidelity.
