A simple, heartfelt retelling of the life of Jesus Christ, written for his own children to teach them about religion and faith. The tone is gentle and accessible, making complex ideas easy for children to understand.

Dickens adapted the narrative primarily from the Gospel of St. Luke, aiming to instill values of kindness, compassion, and moral living in his young audience.

This book was finished in 1849 but published long after his death, in 1934.  With great adaptations, it was used as a basis for the animated film The King of Kings (2025).
