Dominum et Vivificantem ("Lord and Giver of Life") is the fifth encyclical of Pope Saint John Paul II, promulgated on May 18, 1986 (the day of Pentecost). In this document, the Pontiff offers a profound theological analysis on the role of the Holy Spirit in the Church and in the contemporary world.

With this reflection, he concluded his trilogy of encyclicals dedicated to the Holy Trinity, along with Redemptor Hominis (1979, on Christ, the Redeemer of humanity) and Dives in Misericordia (1980, on God the Father and his mercy).
