These simple and charming stories about the never-ending fight between Don Camillo, the hot-headed parish priest of small town in northern Italy, and Peppone, the Communist mayor, have become an Italian classic. The different stories are full of humour and show the persuasion of humble humanity Despite their ideological differences, the two men have a grudging affection for each other, even though they denounce the “godless Communists” and the “reactionaries” in public.

Giovanni Guareschi was born in 1908 and died in 1968, an Italian writer and journalist from Parma in Italy. During Second Worls War he spent a long time as a prisoner or in battle. He often illustrated his little books with his own delightful drawings.
