David Copperfield is born in Suffolk with a step father who is cruel and a mother who dies young. He is sent to school and makes friends with Steerforth and Traddles. When he travels to London he makes friends with Mr. Micawber but is living in absolute poverty. So he runs away to his aunt in Dover and is given a roof to live under with mad Mr. Dick. He then goes to Canterbury to study and lives with the Wickfields.
Charles Dickens was born in Kent, England, in 1812 and died in 1870. This is Dicken's most famous and loved novel, receiving instant critical aclaim. It is largely autobiographical and was Dicken's favourite work.
