Beautiful novel describing the forced and unfair marriage of Lucrezia de Medici to Alfonso, Duke of Ferrara. O´Farrell´s descriptions are fascinating and captivating. Lucrezia is endearing and it is impossible not to be horrified by her fate. The wedding night scene can be skipped.
