The novel is a perfect black comedy set in New York with the twists of that time (1970). There are five robberies all along the narration, each one more unbelievable and crazy than the previous one. Through these robberies, the personalities of the four cronies are shown, and the diplomatic environment of the African countries which have just achieved their independence is criticized. Except for a few vulgar descriptions - which do not contribute anything to the development of the plot - it is a perfect story to laugh and relax.
