An excellent account of the failed Gallipoli Campaign in 1915. It looks at the Turkish, Australian and some English perspectives as the battle for the Gallipoli peninsula continued for over six months. The political background is also explored thorougly. The Turks were allies of Germany, which ably supported Turkey with the latest technology. There is a brief scene in a brothel in Cairo, and in some instances it uses a crude language. These two matters are minor in the context of a very long book.
