A fictionalized biography, in which real facts and fiction are very intermixed. It hardly deals with scientific questions, but rather, simply presents the thoughts and interests of the main character. The work contains a number of sensual scenes, but what calls even more attention is the way in which the author transforms all the characters into religious skeptics, and offers a generally negative view of the Church.
