In 1901 a story called That Naughty Rabbit was published. It instantly became a best seller. This and the twenty-two little books that followed constitute one of the most prestigious collections of children's books. Beatrix Potter's stories often involved real places, people or animals that she actually knew. Beatrix Potter's magical world is as appealing now as when it was created.

Beatrix Potter was born in London in 1866. During her lonely childhood and later in her youth, she studied art and natural history. She acquired her love of the countryside during family vacations, first in Scotland and then in the Lake District. She began her career as a children's writer and cartoonist in 1901, when she was thirty-five years old. In the years before World War I, the demand for her works was so great that she had to publish an average of two new stories a year. She married her lawyer, William Heelis. During the last thirty years of her life, writing and illustration gave way to a second career as a farmer and nature conservationist. Her little books never lost popularity. Toward the end of her life, Beatrix Potter wrote, “If I have done anything-even if it is very little to help little children appreciate simple, honest pleasures, I have done something good.” She has sold millions of copies and her books have been translated into fifteen languages Books that continue to delight children all over the world.

Illustrated tales where animals talk and live adventures. A delightful book, a classic. It will delight the little ones at home, and the grown-ups who read them.
